MJS Energy were contacted by the owner of a large country home in Herefordshire who was undertaking a full renovation of their property. The client wanted to move away from fossil fuels and adopt a renewable, sustainable heating solution that could efficiently supply both heating and hot water throughout the estate.

Transitioning from Fossil Fuels to a Sustainable Biomass Heating System

Our Solution:

Following an initial site assessment, the MJS Energy team designed and installed a Hargassner 100kW woodshed biomass boiler system. This powerful and efficient boiler now provides 100% of the property’s heating and hot water demand, replacing the previous fossil fuel system entirely.

The system was paired with a new heating distribution network throughout the property, fully designed and installed by our engineers. Using built-in weather compensation controls, the Hargassner system automatically adjusts its output according to external temperatures — further improving efficiency and comfort.

Sustainability Impact

By switching to biomass, the client has significantly reduced their carbon emissions and eliminated dependency on rising fossil fuel costs. The boiler is fuelled using locally sourced wood from within the estate grounds, creating a truly sustainable and circular energy solution.
