Poultry Farm

Renewable system to supply Solar pv & Battery Storage

SUMMARY OF PROJECT:

MJS Energy and Scala Renewables Group successfully implemented a comprehensive renewable energy solution at a poultry farm, consisting of a 90kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system and a 126kWh battery storage system. The solar PV system efficiently captures and converts sunlight into electricity, providing a sustainable and cost-effective source of power for the poultry farm’s operations. The accompanying 126kWh battery storage system ensures uninterrupted energy supply, addressing the specific needs of a poultry farm where continuous and reliable power is crucial for maintaining optimal environmental conditions.

This tailored energy infrastructure not only reduces the farm’s reliance on conventional energy sources but also contributes to a significant reduction in carbon emissions, promoting environmental stewardship. The integration of renewable energy technologies enhances the farm’s operational efficiency and long-term sustainability, aligning with the broader trend of adopting clean and resilient energy solutions in the agricultural sector. MJS Energy and Scala renewables Group’s successful completion of this project exemplifies their commitment to advancing sustainable energy practices in diverse agricultural and commercial settings.

KEY OUTCOMES:

  • The primary goal of this project was to significantly cut the poultry farmer’s energy costs and decrease reliance on the grid. Through the installation of a 90kW solar PV system and a 126kWh battery storage system, MJS Energy enables the farm to capture and store solar energy, reducing the need for conventional power sources. This strategic approach not only trims energy expenses but also enhances the farm’s energy independence, marking a pivotal step towards sustainability and economic efficiency.

FINANCIAL BENEFITS:

  • Reduced Energy Bills: The implementation of a 90kW solar PV system and a 126kWh battery storage system leads to a significant reduction in the poultry farm’s energy costs.
  • Financial Savings: By harnessing solar power during peak hours and utilising stored energy during low sunlight periods, the farm minimises its reliance on conventional, often more expensive, energy sources.
  • Grid Independence: Decreased dependence on the grid means lower electricity consumption charges and potential savings on grid-related fees and taxes.
  • Long-term Cost Stability: Solar energy systems offer a stable and predictable source of power, providing the poultry farmer with more control over energy expenses and protection against potential future energy price fluctuations.
  • Enhanced Property Value: The integration of sustainable practices, such as solar energy, can increase the overall value of the farm and its assets.
  • Environmental Savings: While not directly financial, the project’s environmental benefits may translate into positive public perception and, potentially, market differentiation for the farm’s products, leading to increased sales and revenue.

Background

This project originated from the aspirations of a local poultry farmer seeking to enhance operational efficiency and reduce dependency on conventional grid power. Faced with escalating energy costs, the farmer identified the need to implement sustainable solutions. The primary objective was to curtail energy expenses and increase self-sufficiency. Recognising the potential of solar energy, the farmer followed the advice of MJS Energy and Scala Renewables Group to integrate a 90kW solar photovoltaic (PV). Additionally, to ensure a reliable power supply during periods of low sunlight, a 126kWh battery storage system was deemed essential. By partnering with MJS Energy and Scala Renewables Group, the poultry farmer aimed to leverage renewable energy technologies to not only achieve substantial cost savings but also contribute to a greener, more sustainable agricultural operation. This project represents a proactive step towards a more resilient and eco-friendly energy strategy for the poultry farming industry.

The Requirement –

Tailored to meet the specific electrical demands of the poultry farm, the implemented system was meticulously designed by MJS Energy and Scala Renewables Group. The focus was on aligning the solar PV and battery storage capacities with the individual requirements of the site. This bespoke approach ensures optimal performance and efficiency, addressing the poultry farmer’s peak electric demand effectively. By customising the system to the unique energy needs of the site, MJS Energy and Scala Renewables Group has not only maximised the benefits of renewable energy but also provided a sustainable solution tailored to the intricacies of the poultry farming operation.
